Translating Diverse Media
for a 25th Anniversary Exhibition
ClientWOW inc.,
July to October 2022
Urban Connections was responsible for all translation, including signs and introductions for works, pamphlets, and invitations, for the “Unlearning the Visuals” exhibition, held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the founding of WOW.
Capturing Our Client’s Message
We translated a wide range of media for this project, including signs and introductions at the exhibit itself, as well as pamphlets, invitations, online newsletters, greetings and a website. Different media require different styles of communication, writing, and, of course, translation. For example, is this intended for a widespread audience or a highly specific one? We think carefully about the background behind the message and try to envisage in detail how the translation will be used, in order to convey its message properly. We know that our customers care deeply about the messages and works that they wish to communicate, and we strive to convey them as best we can in our translations.
Flexible Service
So much work goes into organizing an exhibition, from reserving the exhibition space, to distributing invitations, and printing materials. Urban Connections strives to always respond flexibly to client requests, whether that is helping them to focus their time on what really matters to them or providing a high-quality product in the minimum amount of time. We always provide as much support as we can, no matter the tightness of the deadline or the difficulty.
About the Exhibition
WOW inc., is a visual design studio with a long list of achievements. Its 25th Anniversary Exhibition “Unlearning the Visuals” featured impressive video pieces and a diverse selection of other works. The exhibition offered visitors a special space to experience Japanese culture from new perspectives, be surprised by what they saw, and immerse themselves in novel worldviews. We were incredibly pleased and proud to be involved with this project, which showcased delicate yet dynamic forms of expression.
