Japanese Localization and Corporate Site Support

For over 10 years, leading cloud commerce platform provider Demandware, Inc. has continued to provide businesses worldwide with pioneering digital commerce solutions. Urban Connections is pleased to be supporting Demandware in Japan through our translation services and the management of Demandware’s Japanese corporate website.

Close Communication is the Key

We first started working with Demandware in October 2014 when we received a simple request for the translation of English materials into Japanese. The request came from Demandware’s US headquarters, which was looking to roll out various materials and web content to its Japanese customers. We quickly realized that simply translating everything into Japanese was not enough to satisfy the needs of Demandware’s Japanese clients. After many emails and face-to-face meetings, not only with the US Demandware team from whom we received the initial request, but also the Japan team that would actually be using the materials, we finally came up with Japanese language materials that would fulfil their intended purpose. We know we must have done something right because we’ve continued to receive translation requests from the Japan team every month – sometimes every day – for close to two years now (with countless face-to-face meetings in between of course).

Local ICT Support with a Global Touch

When companies look to expand their businesses globally, it’s not just time zones and language and culture barriers they need to worry about – there are also differences in IT practices and software. What is standard in North America and Europe may not be standard in Japan. Luckily, at Urban Connections we have staff who know the ins and outs of both, and who can understand the needs of a party in one country and propose solutions that are framed in the right terms for their counterparts in another country. For example, the US Demandware team uses the automation software Eloqua, which is not commonly used in Japan. We therefore acted as a bridge between the US and Japanese teams, providing precise and effective technical support for rolling out the program in Japan. We currently provide Demandware with similar support for the implementation of CMS, Eloqua, Google Analytics, and other software tools.

Demandware provides platforms for over 1,500 e-commerce sites run by over 330 companies around the world, and those numbers continue to grow. Demandware works with many leading global brands, primarily in the apparel industry, where trends are constantly changing and speed is essential, which is why Urban Connections provides Demandware with translation and website support as flexibly and quickly as possible. When we receive a request to translate a press release for Demandware’s website, our website support team starts making arrangements while the translation team prepares the release. That way, once the press release is finalized, it can be uploaded almost immediately, ensuring no time is lost. We have built up a strong track record and are confident in our ability to deliver high-quality translations and get them online in one swift and smooth process.

By supporting Demandware to manage its Japanese website, our aim is to help Demandware focus on its core mission of providing its clients with high-level marketing and IT solutions. Working closely with Demandware, we are always thinking about how better to satisfy existing or potential customers who visit the company’s website.
